I'm not sure if anyone will read this! But 6 years feels like a long time to go without any kind of update so in case you are curious, here's what I have been up to professionally!
I was fortunate enough to serve as the president of PHCP for the last 3 years and I am really proud of the work we did to update the training program, shore up the bylaws, create the regional chapters program and the outreach and advancement committee! All of this is in hopes that we can continue to support our members in their prospective hoof care journeys. It has been a joy and pleasure to serve in this capacity but I'm ready to settle in and really focus on enjoying these sweet years with my 2 daughters who are now 10 and 6 years old.
I have really been enjoying being a mentor for PHCP! I welcome students here several times a year and I have started doing some traveling to teach students as well which has been a really fun new adventure. I am really loving meeting all of these new folks who are doing such an amazing job building this network of talented and compassionate hoof care providers. I'm looking forward to attending the International Hoof Care Summit in a few weeks with some colleagues to represent PHCP and learn more from all of the amazing speakers they have lined up.
My books are pretty much full, but my arm can be twisted if it's the right place at the right time! I will always make time for the 2 rescues that I work with, Dorset Equine Rescue in East Dorset, VT and Gerda's Equine Rescue in Townsend, VT. I love seeing the horses and people I have been working with regularly! Some of them I have had the whole time I have lived in VT which makes 10 years!
This year, I look forward to a bit of a slowdown as I continue to recover from knee surgery that I had about 3 months ago. I want to be really present with my kids and the clients I have and focus on making sure I'm providing the best possible care for all of the horses on my books.
